The broad, cross-curricular learning that accompanies every student’s Science Fair project would not be complete without their interaction with our volunteer judges. Judges come from diverse careers and interests. They bring their expertise and experiences to the youthful exhibitors resulting in an awareness and exchange that enriches the lives of both judges and students. Students, teachers, parents and all of us in Science Fair, appreciate the great work done by our judges each year.
Judging of the exhibits provides the students with a benchmark with which they can measure the growth and development of their ideas and methodologies both currently and from previous participation in Science Fairs.
Judges apply the judging criteria communicated to the students by their classroom teachers from the beginning of their Science Fair planning through to the Simcoe County Regional Science and Technology Fair.
The Simcoe County Regional Science and Technology Fair will be held at Bear Creek Secondary School in Barrie on Friday evening March 29 and Saturday morning March 30th. If you can help us by signing up for either the Friday evening (6:00-9:00 P.M.) for classification and category judging, or the Saturday morning (9:00 A.M.-noon) for special award judging, we would love to see you at the Fair. Refreshments will be provided during the judging times.
As part of the registration, you will be asked your preference for classifications and age categories.

Judging Orientation
We welcome new judges and thank returning judges from past Science Fairs. The attached PowerPoint file will assist judges to the judging process where we meet with the student exhibitors and arrive at recommendations for awards. There are a few changes from last year that returning judges may find helpful.
Please review the judging criteria that you will be using this year. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will post the clarifications that arise from your queries.
Sometimes we are asked how our joint volunteer efforts at the Simcoe County Regional Science Fair tie into the larger provincial and national network. Please visit Youth Science Canada to learn more about the scope of Science Fairs and how our many threads throughout academia, government and industry are helping to build a strong and innovative future for all Canadians.
Thank you again, for your help this year.
